I love Continentals iPhone page. It let's me look up everything about my flight.
- Wheres the plane coming from (and that flight's status)
- Is the seat next to me still open
- What is the seat configuration
- Where am I in the upgrade list
- Are they serving food
- Are there TVs overhead or in the seats
A lot of these are the questions I used to have to wait in line and ask the gate agent. Now I can check from anywhere. Even while sitting in the gate area. It updates in real time.

I just boarded my flight. One of the first people on the plane. Got a window seat which is good. Now comes the stressful, nerve-wracking part...
Watching people coming down the aisle to find their seats and I just hope that each big fat guy inching his way down isn't the person assigned to the middle seat next to me. I try to watch where people are looking as they try to find their seat a few rows before they get there but it's a lot of false alarms. It's nail biting. Wish me luck

I've interviewed a couple people for jobs in digital media and its funny what people think qualifies them to work on the internet. I can't tell you how often people recently out of school without work experience in the industry say in an interview that they are qualified because they've "grown up with the internet."
In what other industry would someone claim to be qualified because they've used the product? I've read magazines my whole life, does that qualify me to publish them? I've grown up eating, does that qualify me to run a restaurant?
The truth is that there is so much that goes on behind the scenes in any industry. To continue the magazine example, there is a lot of tacit knowledge around what to put on the cover to get the magazine purchased in newsstands, how to manage writers... even a whole science around those subscription cards that always seem to fall out of the magazine.
We all know whether we like a product. But that doesn't mean we know why we like the product or what it took to make it.
Perhaps websites just look too easy.

I used to work at NBC and that's written in my Facebook profile. Today I saw this ad on Facebook:
"I want to work at NBC Hi, my name is Chris and I've graduated with a BS in Video Production. After 3 internships at NBC, I'm ready for a full time job."
The link goes to his website where he describes his experience and qualifications. http://www.visualcv.com/chrissansone And he goes beyond a simple resume and takes advantage of the web's ability to show more information including references and photos of him in action.
He's clearly creative and determined. If I still worked at NBC, I would definitely try to think of a good role for him.
This is one of the more clever approaches I've seen at getting in front of the right people for a job.

Facebook has our mothers figured out. Just want they want on Mothers day... for us to invite them to Facebook.
"Connect with Mom this Mothers's Day by inviting her to Facebook. Show her you care through status updates, gifts, messages & more."
Is that the gift your mom was hoping for?
